In the Nordic countries Heterobasidion annosum is present in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden but has not yet been found in Iceland. Finland, Norway and Sweden are generally similar in climate and forest structure. Denmark differs from the other countries in most respects, although the southernmost parts of Sweden resemble Denmark.
