Abstract
In the forest district managed by the Asotthalom Management Unit of the Delalfoeld Forest and Wood-working Enterprise, the Silvicultural and Yield Department of the Forest Research Institute established an Austrian black pine spacing experimental area under the guidance of Rezsoe Solymos in spring 1977 by applying four different spacings (1.4 x 0.7m, 1.4 x 1.4 m, 2.8 x 1.4m) Marking out of the experimental plots, (each plot was of 0.1 ha) and the first inventory of the stands and the first cleaning, if it was necessary, was carried out in winter 1986/1987. From the yield data and structure of the stands, it can be concluded that the average yield on medium and poor site do not show any considerable difference in the function of spacing. However, a number of respect indicate that a roughly quadratic growing space of about 2m2 ensures the best conditions for the development of stands.
