Because of concern about environmental, human, and seedling health, the University of Idaho Forest Research Nursery has reduced the number of pesticide applications and the amount of pesticide applied by 80%, while maintaining a high level of productivity. Sanitation and modifications of cultural practices have successfully reduced dependence on preventative pesticide applications.
