- AbstractIn a fenced-in area of forest stand under regeneration in the Dinaric forest consisting of European beech and silver fir in Rog (Slovenia, Yugoslavia) a detailed analysis of young growth (transect) was carried out at a four-year interval. Natural regeneration of trees seem to proceed normally, that is, the young growth of European beech occurs in cycle whilst the number of silver firs increases continuously. Distribution of plantlets and saplings is not uniform but silver firs do not tend to exclude each other. The height increment of young growth is retained by the canopy of crowns, which is especially true of silver firs. The connection between height increment and age was determined by means of regression analysis and Prodan's control method.
