- AbstractThe research deals with the example of the influence of forest on local wind currents and temperature extremes in two fluvioglacial planes with sand ground. The influence of the forest block on the wind field was evaluated as to the quantity by means of eight months lasting measurings of the wind from eight points of the compass in six points placed around the forest block. The total air flow in open sites was by four times greater than in sheltered sites. The locations differed also as regards the extreme day temperatures; it is interesting that cold air remains in a patch within a forest longer than in open space. In one of the flat land regions, the measurings of the influence of hedgerows on the keeping off of wind proved that windbreaks should be included in the plans.
