Empirical material was collected in plantation of 62 half-sib Norway spruce families from open pollination of late-flushing mother trees of dense wood, of which 35 were from the north-eastern lowland and 27 from the southern, mountainous part of Poland. The families were compared with respect to height and height variation and growth from the fifth until the tenth year of life. Changes in the ranking of height of particular families in relatin to mean height of the whole plantation at different times were also analysed.
