During the period 1960-1988, NISK, Departmart of Forest Operations, carried out snow measurements in the research forests, Silvifuturum in Hurdal. Average values for the winter months and for each year have been calculated. The choice of data and information analysis has mostly been made to study the importance of climate in the transformatin of the snow cover. Factos which affect the transformation of the snow cover are mainly temperature, wind speeds, cloud cover, air pressure and humidity. The basic knowledge on snow cover. The basic knowledge on snow conditions for forest operations in Norway was given by professor Ivar Samset (Samset, 1956). It was based on information in literature, practical studies in several countries and on snow-measurements in various parts of Norway suring the period 1949-1956. Based on these experiences Samset introduced more measurements in the Silvifuturum research forests. This report is based on measurements from the two snow stations 1960-85. Some results from these measurements are given in several reports (Samset 1960, Tengesdal 1967, Vik 1961 and 1962).
