The paper deals with the characteristics of Yugoslav forests and with the accessibility of socially owned forests in the individual republics. A detailed report is given on the accessibility of Slovene Forests. Accessibility coefficients, which give a numerical representation of macro and micro terrain conditions of a certain forest region, are presented for four typical forest regions. Further the paper gives a description of forest road planning in practice as well as the establishment of road density. The forest road construction technology for various terrain conditions, which is normally applied in Slovenia, is also presented.
