It is widely known that the existence of dams at headwaters has an important role in supporting the maintenance of a sustainable water flow. Therefore, the tangible benefits of the important of a dam's function may be clarified through the comparison between the reservoir capacities and the base run-off from headwater forests within catchment areas. The analysis can be done effectively by using the official watershed management data for dams. Moreover, referring to the water supply recharge potential of headwater forests, it also seems possible to show that significant relationship exists between the precipitation characteristics and the geological conditins of catchment areas.
