- AbstractSscots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings were treated with simulated acid rain at pH levels of 5.6 (Control), 4.5, 4.0 and 3.0. No significant differences in growth, or in the rate of Ascocalyx abietina infection, in the seedlings were observed between the different treatments with acid rain. Each inoculated seedling became infected due to the weather sonditions prevailing during the experiment: the summer in Finland was cooler and rainier than normal. The length of the dead part of pH normal. The length of the dead part of pH levels. This derimental effect seemed to be stronger when seedlings were protected from neutralising, natural rain.
