- AbstractThree-year old Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) was fumigated during 13 weeks with 150 ug.m3 O3 (11 h.d-1) and/or 180 ug.m-3 NH3 (24 h.d-1). The water supply was performed by artifical (clean) rain during the fumigation. O3 and NH3 did not cause visible foliar injury, but resulted in damage of the epicutistatus of the needles. In most cases O3 and ved in decreasing the P content of the young needles. This decrease is probably due to a decrease in mycorrhizal frequency. Most of the responses point to an increased stress sensitivity.
