- AbstractIn the forests, ozone injury may be confused with symptoms of needle blight of eastern white pine (Pinus strobus L.). This rence, and results of etiological studies of needle blight of eastern white pine and differentiates needle blight symptoms (both macroscopically and microscopically) from ozone injury. In order to differentiate the two disorders, the investigator must be present in the forest when an episode of Collections should be made from white pine needles showing initial symptoms for both pathological and histological examination. Continous atmospheric ozone monitoring must be carried out at ghe forest observations should be made of the occurrence of foliar injuries on other tree species at the same white pine. A number of other techniques are described which could be carried out in the forest to corroborate the diagnosis of the disorder.
