- AbstractThe work was aimed at studying, whether the size of feeding grounds of the large pine weevil is dependent on the distance from single fresh pine stumps. The studies were conducted in one stand aged 59 years and in two regenerated cutting areas. The size of feeding grounds was determined on 20 cm long and 7 mm thick pine cuttings of fresh pine shoots. The cuttings were put on the soil surface in different distances from the stumps. In the stand, the greatest feeding grounds were stated in 110 cm distance from the stump; in greater distances from the stump and in its adjacency the feeding grounds were smaller. The author stated that in the young plantations big feeding grounds could occur already in distance starting from 60 cm from the stump, and the smallest feeding grounds were stated in distance 20-40 cm from the stump.
