- AbstractThe pathogenicity of 6 species of fungi was tested on spruce seedlings (Picea abies Karst.) in fertile soil substratums having strongly acid and neutral reaction. The fungi were isolated from damaged fine roots of spruce. Trichoderma viride proved to be, by far, the most aggressive fungus in both soil substratums. This fungus caused a large percentage of the seedlings to die. All of the plants that were still living showed considerable root damage. The pathogenicity of Trichoderma hamatum, T. polysporum and Cylindrocarpon destructans was considerably weaker. Mycelium radicis atrovirens possessed few pathogenic characteristics. The root growth of the seedlings was hardly affected by Mortierella parvispora. In strongly acid soil substratum the plants showed, in general, heavier damages than in neutral soil substratum.
