- AbstractThe characteristics of the shelterwood regenerated stands are examined with regard to theory of the normal forest. The growth inhibition of the stands regenerated under protection as well as the differences of age which can be found to a certain extent, show that the rotation time functioning as the main-co-ordinate of the normal forest theory and the normal development of the stand have to be redefined. The rotation time has to be measured from the middle of the regeneration period and not from the beginning or the end of the regeneration period. The development of the stand can also be represented by the usual models of returns, if these do not only include the values of the dominant height but also the data for the age of trees representing the dominant trees. These aspects as well as further peculiarities of the shelterwood regenerated stands determine also the kind of the necessary changes, concerning the principles and the structure of the normal forest theory. Thying to adapt this model to the conditions of the even-aged stands regenerated under protection, a series of formulae (see formulae 1 to 11) has resulted, which express the new structure of the model. These modifications also create a new formation of criterias for the control of sustained yield (see formulae 12 to 16).
