The plans of red deer management and shooting are treated from the viewpoint of the index of sex ratio in the category of fawns and hind, and the development of the parameters and point values of red deer antler trophies from the hunting grounds in north-west Slovakia is dealt with in the present paper. The results show that the value of sex index SI=0.500 (1:1), which is commonly used in the methodics of the planned management and shooting of red deer during their transfer from the spring stock to the summer stock before shooting, can be considered to be misleading and that in the region under investigation, the sex index was in the range of SI values from 0.595 to 0.755 with 99% confidence. The calculation of the basic statistical characteristics of antler parameters and of antler point values and the regression and correlation analyses of input data on more than 800 red deer antler trophies from the years 1979 to 1985 in the region under investigation supplied valuable information on the development of antlers of red deer population in this part of Slovakia.
