In experiments with the rapid propagation of spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco) by the in vitro method we managed to induce the formation of adventive and axillary buds and the development of shoots in cultures established from the embryos of ripe seed, cotyledons, segments of plants grown from seed and winter buds. Suitable nutrient media were constituted and the concentrations determined of growth hormones which supported the induction of organogenesis.
