The success of grafting of birch is conditioned by keeping of some principles which are not always common by grafting the other species of forest woods. That is why it is possible to summarize the results of grafting of birch even using the experiences and knowledge which are not namely described. It is possible to graft only on good rooted and well growing grafting bed. It is recommended to graft on moderate budded beds but the good results could be reached even by beds with the first already developed leaves. Grafting the birch at least of two year beds should be used, but with success could be used the beds even at the age of 4-5 years especially by grafting of population type. The best results could be reached always when grafting the birch in the glasshouse. The differencies by comparing the grafting in the years 1982-1985 were always high conclusive towards the success of grafting in the glasshouse even when using the different manner of grafting. The grafting on the open air is negatively influenced by raining weather, strong sunshine and dry wind. Therefore the placing of beds of birch and their grafting in the glasshouse brings the success when eliminating those unsuitable outer factors. The good rooted beds /best are in the plastic cover without bottom/ are transported into the glasshouse as a rule in December, the moderate heating should begin in February till March depending on the weather and economic possibilities. In this period the glasshouse effect during the sunshine is helpful, it could be heated rather for the night. By heterovegetative manner of birch reproduction it is not grafted above the collar as it is fluently used with other broadleaved trees but most high on the bed. This presuppose was confirmed by results of grafting in the years 1982-1985 namely not only when grafting in the glasshouse but even by grafting of birch beds growing on the open air. It is grafted on the cut down bed by stripping and copulation or on the uncut bed with method into girdle. The possiblities are done by rate of bed's thickness and graft at the spot of grafting. By all these systems the better methods with radial cut on ed and graft /so called small tongue/ should be preferred; it is so called English Copulation, English stripping. The control of bed demands the extraordinary care, it must be regularly the overgrow put from it away, because it grows quick even from sleeping buds. The year's sprouts from the bed cannot grow quicker than the graft. But even by good concretion of graft with bed when the grafts grow to length and power it is necessary to take the highest attention during the manipulation with grafted material with respect to fact that the grafts easy break out. These damages occur even by uncareful manipulation, by strong rain and during the winter season under the pressure of wet snow.
