The world changes and forest research with it. Issues such as global change, sustainable development and efforts and requirements for sustainable forest management alter the needs on forest research. An international scientific seminar organised in the context of the 10th Annual Conference of the European Forest Institute gathered together a unique mixture of people from the different sides of forest research. These proceedings compile the keynote presentations and planel discussions reflecting on such topics as the role of forests in creating welfare, global change and sustainable forests and the new challanges forest research is facing.
