The correlation between 'plant architecture' and insect species diversity is well exemplified by the fact that trees have richer insect faunas than herbaceous plants. In this review, the author describes and discusses the broad effects of plant architecture on the diversity of herbivorous insects and then discusses in more detail single species of plants and the phytophagous insects associated with them.
