Abstract
The officiency of work is not only depending on the good quality of convienent tools and implements as well as on their correct use and handling, but it is also considerably influenced by the form given to the organisation of work. In the preceding paper, the author investigates, how far the method to have one single man cut wood, mostly in use in Northern Europe, may also be apllied under conditions prevailing in Central Europe; which partial opersations shows differences concerning the time required and if the practice of the single man method might increase the efficiency of cutting wood. Real field experiments have been planned in such a manner as to reduce to a minimum the influences on the results originating in different efficiency of the worker, in the nature of the ground, in the stand, in the weather et cetera. Some examples are quoted which show how the results may be influenced by varying degrees of efficiency of the worker. The results have proved that cutting wood by a single man is technically possible up to trees beyond 35 cm d. b. h. and that the time required for quite a number of partial operations how significant differences in favour of the single man method. Im comparison with cutting wood performed by two men, the economy of time depends more on the portion of assortments than in the diameter of the trees. It does, on the basis of the examined methods of work and conditions of stands, not reach 20% ans diminishes to about 13%, if the portion of cordwood is small.
