The present investigation enters into problems which arise from the introduction in Swiss forestry of light one-man motor-saws. Advantages and disadvantages of the two-men motor sawa is relation to the one-man motor saws are discussed and as far as possible proved by figures. The description of possible increase of efficiency according to various working conditions and the judging of costs is given a comparatively large space. On the basis of some special experiments, which have been carried out in cooperation with the Institute of Work-physiology and Work-hygiene of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the University Institute of Medical Justice, possible effects of exhaust gases, noises and vibrations ont he health of the workers are discussed. Finally the paper enters into questions concerning purchase, maintenance and work-organisation, whoch have to be solved by the single undertakings.
