Abstract
In the test Site "Hafelekar", a few kilometers north to Innsbruck (Tyrol, Austria), two different types of snow nets have been equipped with gauges to measure the load on different components of the net: the pressure forces on the posts, the tension forces in the anchors, the base perimeter wires and the up- and downstream wires as well as the continuous change of the net geometry during winter were recorded. The temporal variation of snow depth was recorded with a terrestrial laser ranging system. In addition to the measurements on the snow nets and on the snow cover, static calculations of the snow nets accordinq to Haefeli and the Swiss Guidelines were made. The comparison between the calculated and the measured forces depicts that both registered pressure forces on the posts and tension forces in the anchors and up- and donwnstream wires are smaller than those calculated according to Haefeli and the Swiss Guidelines.
