This book is concernced with many different aspects of risk analysis and hazard mitigation ranging from specific assessment of risk to mitigation associated with both natural and anthrpogenic hazards. The use of computer models to perform risk analysis and quantify hazards provides for more effective risk management and the possibility of achieving better hazard mitigation. The book covers a series of important topics, which are of current research interest and have practical applications. The papers published in this volume were represented at the second International Conference on Computer Simulation in Risk Analysis and Hazard Mitigation held in Bologna, Italy in October 2000 and are classified in the following sections: Hazard Prevention, Management and Control; Estimation of Risk; Emergency Response; Data Collection and Analysis; Hazardous Materials in Transit; Water Resource Modelling and Management; Landslides; Earthquakes; Soil and Water Contamination; Air Quality Studies; Case Studies.
