Abstract
The Institute for Landscape Biology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences has arranged in Smolenice, in the House of Scientific Workers of the SAS, from the 7 to 8 November 1963 a Symposium about problems of exhalation in Slovakia, sponsored by the Department for Chemical and Biological Sciences of the SAS Presidency and by the SAS Scientific Council. The object of the Symposium was: 1. To give a complex view of the exhalation problems and to obtain a survey about the existing research results. 2. To acquaint all interested institutions with the complexity of these problems. 3. To lay the foundations for the reciprocal collaboration and coordination between all interested participants. 4. To design the ways which must be taken at the complex solution of these problems. In order to fulfil the settled aims, it was necessary to engage a wide circle of interested persons. On the Symposium 82 collabourers from 43 workplaces took part. The majority of these workplaces pertained to the Slovak and Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, to different Departments and High Schools. Represented were likewise the production plants and regulatory agencies. the negotiations proceeded in the spirit of the principal account, reported by M. Ruzicka on the theme: "Eliminate the drawbacks at upbuilding the Socialism and communism in Czechoslovakia". In the whole course of the Symposium 34 accounts and 52 discussion contributions were reported, in the following thematic groups: a) Biotical landscape constituents, b) Abiotical landscape constituents, c) Man and environment, d) Economical activity of man, e) Air conditions and production technology. The results of the discussion were summarized in the final resolution which, besides of analyses concerning the existing state, advises upon a whole complex of measures, striving to remove the injurious exhalation effects. The resolution contains likewise proposals for concrete measures in order to collaborate and coordinate the solution of the exhalation problems.
