Die Autoren haben in einem von der Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V. (FNR) geförderten Forschungsprojekt begonnen, eine übertragbare Methode zu entwickeln, welche den Bodenwasserhaushalt für die wenig experimentell untersuchten stau- und grundwasserbeeinflussten Böden (forstliche wechselfeuchte Standorte
(W) und Nassstandorte (N)) mit geeigneten Modellen quantifiziert. Der Schwerpunkt liegt darauf, staunässe- und grundwasserbedingten lateralen Zu- und Abfluss von Wasser in Standortswasserhaushaltsmodelle von unterschiedlichen Testgebieten zu integrieren.

The goal of a FNR (Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V.) funded research project carried out by the authors of this paper is to develop improved methods for quantifying soil water balances in forest soils under waterlogged or groundwaterinfluenced conditions. This approach evaluates site-scale model simulations at several study sites, with a particular focus on the inclusion of lateral flows. Initial results have indicated that models such as COUPMODEL, LWF-BROOK90, and CMF are capable of including lateral in- and outflow, and that the addition of this
hydrologic component is relevant for estimating the water balance at these sites. For the quantification of the lateral flow at the waterlogged sites, hydromorphological analysis is applied using a digital elevation model with a high spatial resolution. This paper describes the research project and provides the results from the initial phase of research.
