Using material of the hybrid clone Populus deltoides x P. maximowicii 'Eridano', trials were carried out to develop an alternative propagation method, by means of herbaceous cuttings, for poplar clones of special interest to obtain shortly a high number of rooted cuttings from a mall sample. The stock obtained from herbaceous shoots of singlebud woody cuttings was twice that derived from shoots of traditional cuttings grown in cold greenhouse and some ten times higher than the initial amount of traditional cuttings. The results obtained were fully satisfactory as regards both rooting and the subsequent root success in the field.
