  • Abstract
    Growth and increment characteristics were investigated in silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) from three variously affected Dinaric silver fir - beech forest stands in Slovenia. In affected trees the decreased radial growth and occurrence of missing or incomplete growth rings were observed. The reduced wood formation began near the base of a tree and proceeded acropetally. Silver fir decline was in correlation with the destruction of forest stands.
