Gardoprim-A adds to the range of herbicides available for grass control, with particular benefits on mineral soils during damp spring and early summer weather. Sitka spruce is tolerant of a spot application of Gardoprim- A sprayed over the tree at a rate of 15 l/ha at any time of year. Larch, ash, beech, oak and sycamore are tolerant of such applications at 15 l/ha only when applied prior to bud burst (flushing). Do not use on birch, alders or bird cherry at any time. On surface water gleys with predominantly soft grasses (see FC Field Book 8, p. 24) excellent control was achieved at 10 l/ha, but on other sites 15 l/ha is required. Spring and early summer applications gave the best control. Weeds on soils with an organic layer should only be treated when they are actively growing. With mineral soils thre is sufficient residual action to give weed control even it the Gardoprim-A is washed off the target weed by light rain. On soils with an organic layer foliar contact is required to achieve weed control. The use of Gardoprim-A should increase the period when chemical spraying operations can be carried out.
