This short paper reviews some of the directions for further research in physiology of flowering of conifers. It deals mainly with gibberellins which, through the more precise tools now available, can be studied in term of metabolism and specificity. The interactions between shoot or root growth and flowering are also discussed. More attention needs to be paid to axillary meristems through histological as well as biochemical studies.
