  • Abstract
Using regression analyses the genetic effects of ten isozyme gene-markers on trunk diameter of 1016 21-year-old Norway spruce were studied. 67 provenances were analyzed, all growing at one trial location of the International Provenance Trial of 1964/68 which includes 1100 provenances. The provenances were assigned to one of three regions, each being reinhabited from different glacial refuges. In provenances of the Yugoslav refuge the MDH-C locus and in provenances of the Carpathian refuge the 6-PGDH-B locus revealed significant additive genetic effects on diameter growth. Significant multilocus genetic effects were caused mainly by additive rather than dominance effects. No correlation was found between the degree of individual heterozygosity and the fitness component diameter growth.
