The most significant autochthonous oak species is Quercus petraea Liebl., whose share in the growing stock is 82 % of all oak species. It is followed by Quercus cerris with 8 %, Quercus robur L. with 7 %, Quercus pubescens Willd. with 2 %. All oak species represent 7,5 % of the total growing stock in Slovenija. The distribution of oaks is presented in computer maps, the ecology and the silvicultural significance of oak species are being discussed.
