Abstract
The article deals with preliminary results of photosynthetic pigment contnt analysis in Norway spruce needles (Picea abies/L./Karst.), sampled in the profile in the Salek valley in order to determine the area influenced by emission from steam power plant Sostanj. The sampling was carried out in October 1990, using the same method as prescribed for the analysis of sulphur content in needles. Only the results of total chlorophyll and total carotenoids for the chosen sites in the profile are shown in the article. The values are presented as averages of two trees on sampling site, and for four last age classes of needles. The results of the analysis show the influence of pollutants from steam power plant on the level of photosynthetic pigments in spruce needles. The influence is expressed as decreased absolute chlorophyll and carotenoid content of needles, and even more in the changed course of photosynthetic pigment content during ontogeny of needles.
