The first Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe, held in Strasbourg in December 1990, prepared six resolutions dealing with topics that required increased European cooperation in order to effectively promote the necessary protection of forests in Europe. The implementation of each of these resolutions has been coordinated on the European level by an International Coordinator and on the national level by a National Coordinator designated by the respective Signatory State. The cooperation between these Coordinators has produced the present comprehensive report consisting of summary reports on the European level and of national reports from the respective Signatory States for each resolution. The present document gives an account of the implementation of the resolutions. It is evident that the national efforts and the cooperation within Europe have significantly promoted the protection of forests and have shown an effective approach towards the fulfillment of the expectations of the Strasbourg Conference. The reports is respectfully submitted to the Ministers for their consideration.
