This note compares three alternative rules for choosing the optimal age for cutting trees. The first is the Faustmann-Pressler-Ohlin rule, the second is a rule for the "divisible capital" forest that has been proposed by Oderwald and Duerr, and the third is a rule for a sychronized "normal" forest, i.e., in a case where there is a steady-state constraint. A few comments on the relevance of the latter rule are given.
