There was a significant negative correlation between yields of a collection of raspberry plants in seven consecutive years and their ecovalence values. An exceptional plant, ranking high in both yield and ecovalence, was selected and named Festival (Fejer and Spangelo, 1971). Low growth rate and cold resistance seem to be the factors responsible for its high adaptability.
