Vor allem in Ostösterreich und in Nachbarländern wie Baden-Württemberg, Bayern und der Schweiz gibt es zum Teil eine erhebliche Zunahme des Laubholzanteils. Östliche Nachbarn wie Ungarn, Slowakei usw. haben schon historisch einen vergleichsweise hohen Laubholzanteil (Bukowina - Buchenland), ebenso wie im Westen Frankreichs. Die letzten zwei heißen Sommer mit Borkenkäferkalamitäten bei Fichte sind ein Alarmzeichen für notwendige Veränderungen im Waldbau - wohin kann die Reise gehen?Especially in the eastern part of Austria and in neighbouring countries, such as Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Switzerland, there is a significant increase in the share of hardwood species. Eastern nieghbours such as Hungary and Slovakia, as well as France have a historially high share in hardwoods. The last hot and dry summers have lead to enormous bark beetle calamities for spruce and this is an alarming signal for the necessity of a change in forest management. What will be the future? The current issue of Lignovisionen addresses and compiles various activties within the hardwood issue in Austria, such as a hardwood technology roadmap and a specific hardwood workshop in the frame of the think tank "zukunftsforumholz 2018". Current developments in the field of hardwood and innovation will be analyzed as well as szenarious to the topic of climate change and hardwood forests and non-native tree species.
