Simulation tools are essential to investigate and evaluate potential risks of gravitational mass flows. AvaFrame – the open avalanche framework – offers well-established computational modelling approaches, data handling and analysis tools, and ready-to-use modules that can be used as one component of an objective risk assessment for avalanches. In this paper, we present a tool for probability and variation assessment. Generally, this is helpful in scientific applications to gain further process understanding via sensitivity analyses; however, in this contribution, we focus on the gain in the information that these tools provide for operational end users.
