Die vorliegende Arbeit fasst den Stand der vegetationsökologischen Erforschung der Waldvegetation der beiden Nationalparks Thayatal und Podyjí zusammen. Insbesondere werden die Ergebnisse der Kartierung der Waldvegetation in Form einer Waldtypenkarte vorgestellt. Weiters wird ein Katalog von Waldgesellschaften präsentiert, der auch seltene und für das Gebiet bislang nicht nachgewiesene Einheiten dokumentiert. Zusätzlich werden vegetationsökologische Untersuchungen diskutiert, die auf Waldumwandlungs- und Eisbruchflächen durchgeführt wurden und damit einen Beitrag zur Kenntnis der Vegetationsdynamik in der naturnahen Waldlandschaft des grenzüberschreitenden Großschutzgebiets leisten.The presented article summarizes the outcomes of vegetation-ecological research in the forested part of the two neighbouring Nationalparks Podyjí (Czech Republic) and Thayatal (Austria). As a central result, a map of forest types, based on field mapping combined with remote sensing assisted modelling, is presented. In addition, the results of near-nature forest management interventions are highlighted and contrasted with a detailed investigation of a natural disturbance. In doing so, a contribution to a better understanding of vegetation dynamics in protected natural forestes of Central Euope is provided.
