- AbstractExposure to natural environments has shown a range of positive effects for humans. The positive short-term effects have been explained by nature’s capacity to enhance restoration. Well-known restoration theories, the attention restoration theory (ART) by Kaplan and Kaplan and stress reduction theory (SRT) by Ulrich, explain the outcomes of nature visits but little is still known about what causes these restorative effects. Keywords | Forests, psychological well-being, psychological tasks, walking
