Abstract
A reference definition of FAWS was established within the framework of the COST Action Usewood, with the aim of reducing ambiguity in the existing international definitions and improve the comparability of national figures. The reference definition was agreed by NFI experts. For FAWS-harmonisation, different steps are still needed to define: principles, restrictions constraining wood supply area, restriction thresholds.
