The use of wood chips has been greatly enhanced over the past ten years. To integrate them widely into paper and pulp production, an improvement of quality was necessary. Papierholz Austria and the Austrian sawmill industry cooperated in these concerns. Broad efforts for quality improvement: In cooperation with experts, they installed a range of new methods to improve the quality of wood chips. First of all, the "absolutely dry" method, measuring the weight and not the volume of the delivered wood chips, is to be installed at papermills. Other plants to improve the quality of paper chips include investing in sifting plants and taking better care of suppliers.
