  • Abstract
Symptoms of different abiotic and biotic damages could have been observed in larch stands of the Southern Alps in the district of Murau. The several draught and heat period during the summertime of 2003 is considered to be the main predisposing factor for all the following mortal attacks of insects such as bark beetles (Ips cembrae) and long horned beetles (Tetropium gabrieli). Additional damaging factors such as needle cast (Hypodermella laricis, Mycosphaerella laricina), the larch canker Lachnellula willkommii and the gall midge Dasineura laricis were also found to be a main damaging factor for the larch trees in that region.
