adHOQ is an interdisciplinary working group within the German Union of Forest Research Organisations, section Growth and Yield. It has been initiated in June 2003 in order to strengthen the cooperation between researchers focussing on the different aspects of wood quality. The first meeting of the group provided information on the actual state of the art and the future perspectives of wood quality modelling at national and European level. The results of this meeting ranged from common definitions in order to improve the understanding between the different disciplines up to the identification of a research structure for the future cooperation with regard to the quality aspects of the forest-wood-chain, adHOQ also aims at optimising the investigation and modelling aaproaches by a joint elaboration of recommendations. Last but not least the construction of a meta-database on current and past wood-quality projects is one of the next steps of the group, to provide a better information basis for the actual research and to connect the fragmented approaches in the field (Fürst und Seifert 2003).
