  • Abstract
Each plant species is more or less specific in the plant communities it grows. One species may be characteristic for one special unit of the phytosociological system. However, even those specific plants grow mostly in much more plant communities, for which they are not characteristic but accompanying. Therefore, we consider that it is not appropriate for many ecological analyses to restrict a species occurrence just to one phytosociological unit, but to provide the range of units in which they occur. Thus, we listed all phytosociological classes after Schubert et al. (2001) in which a plant species occurs more or less regularly. The results confirm that this is a more appropriate method and allow some preliminary statements on the ecological behaviour of species.
