This article deals with establishing sparsely planted pine cultures and their subsequent green pruning. Recommendations are made on how best to perform the green prunings. Due to the lack of long-term studies, costs were calculated in comparison to the common densely planted pine stands in which dry-branch pruning is practiced. This calculation revealed that considerable costs savings could be obtained with the variations presented as compared to the traditional procedures.
