Northrhine-westphalian literature mentions three thermophilous forest communities, the Carici-Fagetum, the Galio-sylcatici-Carpinetum, and the Lithospermo-Quercetum. In Northrhine-Westphalia only the first association belongs to the potential natural vegetation. The two other communities are the result of coppicing. The thermophilous part of the Tilio-Acerion is only fragmentarily represented in Northrhine-Westphalia. However, there is another forest type of warm and dry habitats, which up to now only has been documented poorly in northrhine-westphalian literature: the Luzulo-Quercetum petraeae silenetosum.
