Within their organizational and legal study carried out in 2001, the small State Forest Administration of Schleswig-Holstein successfully mastered one stage of their objectives, and thus set standards for other administration sectors. The initial goal is to consistently realize the stipulated cost-savings. Future reflections and organizational measures will be based on the further development of the state budget, progress of the forestry reforms in the other federal states, the pending revision of the State Forestry Law in Schleswig-Holstein, and last but not least, developments at the European level, e.g., the issue of competition rights.
