Influence of the nitrogen oxides and sulphur oxides on the persistence of withe fir (Abies alba Mill.) and Norwegian spruce (Picea abies L.) was investigated. It was proved that under the influence of the sulphur dioxide and in particular of the nitrogen dioxide there appears the phenomenon of plasmolysis in the needles.
