  • Abstract
Im Hinblick auf die Verjüngungsökologie der Douglasie (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco) in Germany. Germination is a key factor mostly studied in experiments, whereas this study is an inventory of Douglas Fir stands. Germinants, not the germination itself are studied with respect to the safe sites. Therefore litter conditions and microsite types are differentiated. Medium scale site conditions (e.g. soil moisture) are not studied. Several microsites (MS) can be distinguished in the field, e.g. mineral soil, moss layer, bed rock fissures etc. Mean abundance varies from 4 to 8 germinants partly with respect not to the MS type but size. Approx. 30 % of total germiants is regularly found on MS with increasing MS proportion if general germination conditions become successively unfavorable, e.g. because of dense ground vegetation.
